James Jordan, the father of basketball legend Michael Jordan, was tragically murdered on July 22, 1993, while sleeping in his car on a North Carolina highway.

His car, a gift from his son, attracted the attention of two attackers, Larry Demery and Daniel Green, who attempted to rob him.

James awoke during the robbery and was killed, and his body was later dumped in a swamp near Bennettsville. Both attackers were sentenced to life imprisonment, each accusing the other of firing the fatal shot.

However, the case may be on the verge of a shocking reversal. Judge Gregory Weeks has requested the release of Daniel Green, expressing doubts that the wrong man is behind bars. Weeks cited serious procedural errors during the trial, including the manipulation of forensic evidence.

According to the judge, the forensic analyst failed to confirm that the blood found in the car belonged to the victim, and there is additional evidence suggesting that the investigation may have been compromised by poor or incomplete laboratory testing.

Green’s confession is one of many that have been re-examined in North Carolina due to suspicions of irregularities in laboratory analyses. These claims and Judge Weeks’ position could lead to a reversal of the case, but the final outcome remains to be seen.

Michael Jordan has not yet commented on these new developments.
