“Hashim Thaçi wishes to express his sincere gratitude for the tremendous support that he, together with Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi, have received from the people of Kosovo and the international community, and calls on the citizens of Kosovo to remain peaceful in response to yesterday’s injustice,” Mišetić wrote.
The Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague found Thaçi guilty on September 16 of war crimes, including murder, torture, cruel treatment and arbitrary detention, and sentenced him to 25 years in prison. The verdict is at first instance and can be appealed.
In the same case, Kadri Veseli was sentenced to 18 years, Rexhep Selimi to 13 years, and Jakup Krasniqi to 25 years in prison.
