The U.S. Congress Committee on Foreign Affairs has, by a majority vote, adopted a bill requesting that the State Department conduct an investigation and submit a report on the alleged systematic violation of the rights of the Albanian minority in the so-called “Presevo Valley.”
The bill was introduced by Republican Congressman Keith Self and passed the committee with 43 votes in favor and three against, with no abstentions.
After the bill completes the full committee procedure, it will be sent to the House of Representatives for a vote, after which it will also have to be approved by the Senate. Finally, the law must receive the final decision and signature of U.S. President Donald Trump in order to enter into force.

Let us recall that several weeks ago, during his three-day visit to the United States, Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met precisely with Keith Self.
As announced on the ministry’s website, one of the main topics of the talks between Đurić and Self was the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
On that occasion, Đurić emphasized the necessity of ensuring basic rights and security for the Serbian people in this area.
