Serbs have long been considered one of the most beautiful people in the world, whether men or women, so it’s no surprise that the love stories of our people often start with partners from abroad. Such relationships usually bring interesting comparisons of cultures, mentalities, and customs.
Thus, an unnamed Brazilian woman, who recently revealed that she is married to a Serb, said in a now-viral video how fascinated she is by the similarity of the Balkans and Latin America. The video was published on the Instagram profile “datingbeyondborders,” known for stories of couples in multicultural marriages and relationships, and she revealed in it in which fields she recognized the closeness of the two nations.
When asked during a street survey who she was married to, the Brazilian woman said:
“I am married to a Serb, a very proud Serb. If you look at Balkan people and Latinos, they are very similar in many things. Only the language is different. Especially Serbs, Croats, Montenegrins, the whole Balkans. We are so similar. For me, it’s impressive – how they want to have fun, how they drink, how we can laugh at the same jokes.”
“They just go crazy then!”
As she added, one thing she really loves about us Serbs is our celebrations – weddings, parties, and other ceremonies.
“They just go crazy then! That’s why I told my husband that he can go to Brazilian weddings without any problems, because he will fit in perfectly there. And I don’t know enough people who are as crazy about Brazil as Serbs are. Sometimes even in Brazil itself, people mistake my husband for a Brazilian,” she added with a smile on her face.
“Our similarities are incredible”
The video of her short statement quickly went viral on social media, and other Latinos who, like her, confirmed the same experience, commented below the post.
“I am Brazilian, I lived in Serbia for nine years. The main reason I decided to stay is the people. I felt welcome, and our similarities are incredible. Serbia is my home in Europe,” “Latino-Balkan here. A dangerous combination,” “I’ve been with my Serbian boyfriend for five years and I can honestly say: yes, we are very similar. I adore Serbian culture and people – the music, the food and the energy. Whenever I’m in Serbia with his family, I feel completely at home. It’s wonderful and I’m grateful to be a part of it,” they wrote.
Among the numerous comments, one Serbian woman also spoke up and admitted:
“I am a Serbian woman living in America, it’s strange how most people think I’m Latina.”
