As many as three series filmed in Serbia have been nominated for the Saturn Award for the best serial achievements in their respective genres.
The series “Robin Hood,” “The Librarians: The Next Chapter,” and “The Ark” have been nominated for the 2025 Saturn Awards.
“Robin Hood” received a nomination for “Best New Genre Television Series,” “The Librarians: The Next Chapter” was nominated in the category “Best Fantasy Television Series,” while “The Ark” earned a nomination for “Best Science Fiction Television Series.”
All three series were produced in Serbia by the production company Balkanic Media, whose founder, Jonathan English, is also one of the creators of “Robin Hood,” which was filmed in Belgrade, Gornji Milanovac, on Fruška Gora, and other locations.
English expressed his excitement and pride that all three series they produced last year were nominated for the prestigious Saturn Awards:
“This is a huge reward for everyone who worked on these series and truly confirms the talent and skill of the entire film industry in Serbia. These nominations really mark Serbia as a world-class filming destination, which it truly is. The combination of incentives, talent, locations, and facilities together makes Serbia the best production partner in Europe,” English concluded.
Across all three series, Serbian professionals signed on as directors, cinematographers, sound designers, costume designers, production designers, and makeup artists, while Serbian actors and stunt performers delivered outstanding roles and impressive fight scenes. In addition, sound, editing, and visual effects were carried out by studios and artists based in Belgrade.
The Saturn Award nominations come, it should be recalled, after news that Belgrade is among the top five film locations in Europe and has been shortlisted for the EUFCN Location Award 2025, the most important European recognition for outstanding filming locations and cooperation with international productions.
The Hollywood Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films has announced the nominations for the 53rd annual Saturn Awards. The ceremony honoring the most outstanding achievements in science fiction, fantasy, horror, superhero productions, action-adventure films, animation, and genre storytelling in film, television, and home entertainment is scheduled for March 8 at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
