The Serbian U18 basketball team defeated North Macedonia 89:59 in the Belgrade Arena, in the third round of the group stage of the European Championship.
The winner was decided in the first quarter, which Serbia, as a big favorite, won 24:8.
By halftime, it was already 49:23, and North Macedonia managed to improve slightly in the third period, even winning it 18:21.
Serbia easily brought the match to an end without any drama, and will likely secure a place in the round of 16 from the second position.
The most efficient player for Serbia was Petar Ostojić with 25 points and 14 rebounds, achieving a utility index of 39. Ognjen Srzentić also shone with 17 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while Stefan Isailović recorded 15 points. Saša Nikitović, Serbia’s head coach, had the opportunity to rest Andrej Lučić and Pavle Bačko, and distribute minutes to the others exactly as he wished.
For North Macedonia, Nikola Janičikj was the best with 19 points, while Grigorij Gjorgjevikj had 14 points and seven rebounds.
Serbia concluded the group stage with two wins and one loss, but the outcome of the Lithuania – Greece match is still pending for the final standings. Lithuania has two wins, while Greece is currently at 1-1.
All four teams from the group advance to the next round, and ours crosses over with the one where Spain is first, Slovenia second, Belgium third, and Latvia fourth.
