SERB, MONTENEGRIN AND CROATS LEAD ILLINOIS TO THE TITLE: Andrej Stojaković Shines in Win for NCAA Quarterfinal! (VIDEO)

Andrej Stojaković continued his phenomenal form, leading Illinois into the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.

The Illinois Fighting Illini secured a place in the quarterfinals, and in “March Madness,” Andrej Stojaković once again stood out.

The son of legendary Predrag Stojaković scored 13 points in Illinois’ 65–55 victory over the Houston Cougars and, along with David Mirković—who added one more point—was the most responsible for his team’s success.

Additional contributions came from the remaining ex-Yugoslav players on Illinois, Tomislav and Zvonimir Ivišić. Tomislav scored nine points, while Zvonimir added two. Mihailo Petrović was on the roster but did not get playing time from head coach Brad Underwood.

The game was watched from the stands by Peja Stojaković, who enjoyed his son’s performance, with cameras capturing him applauding several times.

Looking at the detailed statistics, Andrej Stojaković scored 13 points in 28 minutes on the court, shooting 5/8 from the field (1/3 from three-point range and 4/5 from two), along with 2/2 from the free-throw line. David Mirković recorded 14 points in 33 minutes, shooting 6/13 (2/6 from three, 4/7 from two), and 0/2 from the free-throw line.

Illinois will face the Iowa Hawkeyes in the quarterfinals, after Iowa defeated Nebraska 77–71 in the Round of 16.
