This week, a significant gathering of business leaders and community representatives originating from Serbia, the Balkans and America was held in the U.S. state of Michigan, who stood behind the campaign of congressional candidate Michael Bouchard. The host of the event was well-known Serbian businessman Goran Petković, and the topics of discussion at his villa not far from Detroit were focused on economic growth, innovation and civic engagement.
Bouchard, a National Guard captain with more than ten years of service in uniform, including a mission in Iraq, recently launched his campaign for Congress at a time when Republicans are seeking to maintain their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Coming from a family with a strong tradition of public service — his father is a long-serving county sheriff, and his grandfather also served in uniform — Bouchard built his campaign around support for small businesses, border security, legal immigration connected with economic growth and the integrity of the electoral process.
Serbian-American businessman Goran Petković, who has long been active in the transportation business and has recently begun producing organic food in Serbia, which he exports to America, hosted respected guests in partnership with the MENA American Chamber of Commerce and its executive director Faye Nemer.
The gathering brought together prominent Republican figures from across Michigan, as well as professionals and entrepreneurs from Balkan, Middle Eastern and North African communities.
Those present included Balkan-American entrepreneurs Filip Milivojević, Nikola Andreevski, Miloš Mitrović, Luka Jovanović and Zoran Berić, whose business activities extend across several American markets. Their companies operate in sectors that include transportation and logistics, software engineering, artificial intelligence and real estate development.
Through technologies for transport optimization, digital platforms and large projects in the field of real estate, their ventures have contributed to the expansion of business and the creation of new jobs in several states. Their work reflects broader trends of technological modernization and investment in key sectors of the American economy.
In addition to commercial activities, these entrepreneurs are also active participants in discussions on business and politics related to innovation, regulatory development and economic competitiveness.
Discussions during the gathering focused on artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, economic development and immigration policy. Participants emphasized the importance of balancing secure borders with legal immigration pathways that support entrepreneurship and workforce growth.

Those present also emphasized the growing role of Balkan-American professionals in strengthening economic ties and cooperation between the United States and the countries of the Balkan region.
This event reflected the growing interaction between political candidates, business leaders and diasporas, highlighting their shared interest in economic development, innovation and participation in civic life.
