Duško Vujošević, the legendary basketball coach, passed away this Wednesday in Belgrade, reports Nova.rs.
Vujošević had been facing serious health problems for a long time, primarily with his kidneys, and he underwent a transplant in Belarus in 2025.
During March of this year, he was admitted to the hospital after his health seriously deteriorated due to complications with his heart and lungs.
His friend Peca Popović said goodbye to him in a post on the social network Facebook, confirming the information for sports media.
Alongside a photograph of Vujošević, he left a message:
“GOODBYE DEAR DUSKO“
A man never knows who he is. And life is a comedian full of darkness. As that Dutch Austrian Thomas Bernhard would say,” wrote Popović.
He also led OKK Beograd, Mladost Zemun, Oximesa, Crvena zvezda, Brescia, Pistoia, Pesaro, Radnički Beograd, CSKA Moscow, Limoges, and Cluj, which was his final coaching engagement. He was also the head coach of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Duško was and will remain one of the symbols of BC Partizan, with whom he dominated the region in the first decade of the 21st century, winning numerous trophies. He led the Black-and-Whites from 2001 to 2010, and then from 2012 to 2015.
In 2010, he created a sensation with the Black-and-Whites, eliminating Maccabi to qualify for the EuroLeague Final Four, and in the semi-finals, Partizan was only a few seconds away from a victory over Olympiacos.
