Predrag Jovanović, an accordion professor at the Music School in Niš, has been named the best educator in the region and will represent Serbia as a finalist in the “Prosvetitelj” competition at the prestigious global competition, the “Global Teacher Prize,” set to take place in Dubai in 2026.

A short film detailing his work, city, and school mentions that Professor Jovanović graduated and obtained his master’s degree from the renowned P. I. Tchaikovsky Music Conservatory in Kyiv, where he was declared the Student of the Decade with an average grade of 10.

Over twenty years of working with students, his pedagogical approach has resulted in more than 300 international awards, primarily first prizes, at competitions both domestically and abroad.

In addition, he is an active participant in international conferences and the author of numerous papers in globally recognized journals dedicated to music, culture, and the accordion.

Jovanović emphasizes that his role extends far beyond that of a professor. He states that in addition to imparting rich musical knowledge to children, they often watch movies together, spend time in nature, and engage in sports.

“In school, I am not just a professor; I am also a teacher and educator, a friend and supporter, and sometimes a parent. Our task is not just to teach them notes, but to shape the soul through music, to create valuable, curious, and empathetic people from a child. I believe in a special and personal approach to every student. The working methodology, which I developed over the years, helps me recognize hidden potentials, as well as the obstacles that stand before children,” Professor Jovanović points out.

As he himself states, his music school in Niš is not just a place of education, but also a pillar of upbringing and development for young artists, who grow up into happy and fulfilled individuals with true moral and family values.
