Russia attacked Ukraine again overnight with drones and missiles. Three people were injured, and a large number of people sought refuge in the metro. Poland scrambled aircraft.

Russia carried out a major missile and drone attack on Ukrainian cities on the night of December 6th, wounding at least three people in the Kyiv region, officials announced.

The Ukrainian Air Force stated that Russian forces launched a barrage of missiles, as well as dozens of drones towards cities near the Ukrainian capital.

Due to the attack, air raid sirens were activated across the country, while Russian MiG-34K aircraft, capable of launching “Kinzhal” missiles, participated in the operation.

Attacks Recorded Across the Country

Drones were also spotted in the Lviv region in the west of the country, as Russia launched multiple waves of attacks. The Air Force reported the last round of missile strikes shortly before 7 AM local time.

Explosions were recorded in Poltava, Lutsk, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Bila Tserkva during the attack.

Civilians Injured in the Kyiv Region

Kyiv Regional Governor Mykola Kalashnyk announced that a 42-year-old man was wounded by shrapnel in the city of Fastiv, about 60 kilometers southwest of central Kyiv.

Earlier reports indicate that the city’s main railway station was hit during the attack. Ukrainian Railways announced that Russia carried out “massive shelling of railway infrastructure” in Fastiv.

Kalashnyk also stated that two women, aged 46 and 40, were injured in the Vyshhorod region, north of Kyiv. One of them was hospitalized due to shrapnel wounds.

Poland’s Reaction

The Polish Air Force announced on social media that it scrambled fighter jets to protect its airspace during the hours-long attack on western Ukraine.

Details on the total damage or specific targets of the attacks are still unavailable in all regions.

Continuous Attacks on Kyiv

Russian forces have regularly attacked Kyiv and the surrounding areas in recent months, at a time when the US is attempting to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

In the previous massive attack on Kyiv on November 13th and 14th, seven people were killed, and 29 were injured.
