The Serbian national water polo team defeated Italy 17:13 in the semifinals of the European Championship in Belgrade.
Serbia’s players opened the semifinal clash brilliantly. The first goal was scored by Dušan Mandić, signaling his determination to lead the team to the final of the European Championship. Italy struggled to find a way past the Serbian defense, brilliantly protected by Milan Glušac, who proved an insurmountable obstacle for every opposing attack in this match.
All Serbian players were in top form, taking turns on the scoreboard. They did not slow down even after VAR reviewed a play at the end of the second quarter, resulting in captain Nikola Jakšić being excluded from the match. This referee decision only fueled the “Dolphins,” who played even more aggressively.
At no point did Uroš Stevanović’s team allow the Italians to gain momentum. Serbia maintained their advantage until the final whistle, securing their place in the fight for another European gold.
In the final, the Serbian “Dolphins” will face Hungary, who earlier today defeated Greece.
The final is scheduled for Sunday at 20:30, while the match for third place will take place on Sunday at 17:00.
