At a session held two days ago in Gračanica, the presidency of the Serbian National Council of Kosovo and Metohija unanimously decided to award students in the blockade with a special charter, “Vidovdan Red Kosovo Peony,” the SNV announced.
“The students in the blockade, through their proactive actions amidst the general confusion that has prevailed for years in Serbian society and the state of Serbia, encourage democratic forces in Serbia and the citizens of Serbia in seeking a way out for the peaceful resolution of accumulated social and political conflicts,” the SNV stated in the announcement.
It is added that the dedication of the students in the blockade to establishing democratic institutions that should govern Serbian society and the Serbian state, as well as their commitment to respecting the Constitution and preserving the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, are values compatible with the strategy of the Serbian National Council for resolving the state and national question of the Serbian people, i.e., the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and the position of our people there.
“The cry heard from the throats of tens of thousands of protesting students, who are accused by those who shamefully remain silent of not mentioning Kosovo and not defending it, is, in fact, today the loudest in the defense of Kosovo and Metohija. Their demand for respect for the Constitution and the functioning of system institutions, the thunderous singing of the anthem and waving of the flags of the Republic of Serbia, demands for system change, the message to Aleksandar Vucic that ‘he is not competent,’ and the message to leave Kosovo and Metohija alone, is actually the most sincere fight for Kosovo and Metohija,” the SNV stated, adding:
“We clearly hear the cry of disturbed and resolute youth and we feel it as our last chance to save the dignity of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, to save Kosovo and Metohija, to save Serbia.”
The awarding of the special charter “Vidovdan Red Kosovo Peony” is a response to all who criticize the student movement and demand from it “to declare itself on Kosovo.” It is, in fact, a response to those political forces who would use “Kosovo blackmail” to put a spoke in the wheels of democratic rebellion and, on this occasion, as many times before, stop democratization and the change of traitorous rule with alleged concern for Kosovo and Metohija, the council assesses.
By awarding this recognition, the Serbian National Council of Kosovo and Metohija encourages the students in the blockade and gives them full support in realizing a new vision for Serbian society and the state, emphasizing that through joint cooperation and action, they will do everything to ensure that the “Kosovo question” and the misfortune of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are never again abused, never again used to stop democratic processes in Serbia, the SNV stated, adding:
“Together we will do everything to ensure that Kosovo and Metohija become a factor in seeking a creative solution for the benefit of both the state of Serbia and the Serbian people and all people living there.”
