Partizan basketball players defeated Bayern in their first home game of the EuroLeague season with a score of 86:78. The Black and Whites had previously lost to Baskonia and Real Madrid, and Željko Obradović’s team entered the match against Bayern as the absolute favorites.

Partizan basketball players didn’t start the new EuroLeague season in the best way, as they recorded two defeats at the start of the competition. Admittedly, both were away, first the Black and Whites lost to Baskonia, and then to Real Madrid.

Partizan fans were eagerly awaiting their first chance this season to see their favorites in the elite competition at home, hoping to achieve their first EuroLeague victory with the support of the Grobari in a packed Arena. And they succeeded, in the best possible way!

Partizan’s basketball players entered tonight’s match with tremendous desire. From the very start of the match, the Black and Whites flew across the court, excelling on both ends of the floor while the guests couldn’t find a solution for their motivated opponent. In addition, the team from Germany seemed completely lost on the court, mistakes piled up, and Željko Obradović’s chosen ones used it in the best possible way!

In the first quarter, we witnessed a real barrage from the Parni valjak, the shots were falling for Partizan’s basketball players, who scored six three-pointers in the first 10 minutes, led by the masterful Sterling Brown! Bayern kept up in the opening minutes of the match, but the Belgrade club soon pulled away, and the lead continued to grow steadily.

The Black and Whites dominated for most of the second quarter, and the Munich club only managed to make a 6-0 run at the end of the first half to slightly reduce the deficit, which upset Željko Obradović, who called a timeout to interrupt the rival’s run and asked his players not to relax, despite the fact that the difference at one point was 20 points!

The home basketball players got serious after their coach’s instructions, tightened their defense, and went into the break with a large lead of +17 points, and the first half was marked by Sterling Brown who had as many as 16 points on his account and was clearly the best individual on the court!

The guests from Munich entered the second half a bit more seriously and immediately made a 9-2 run, while the Black and Whites seemed completely lost in the opening minutes of the third quarter, but fortunately for the Belgrade team, those “black minutes” didn’t last long! Partizan’s basketball players tightened their defense and very easily regained a convincing lead, which they didn’t let go until the end of the third quarter, so before the last quarter, the score on the scoreboard was 71:52.

Bayern’s basketball players only played well in the final quarter, in which they were significantly better than Partizan, who didn’t resemble themselves. The Black and Whites started making mistakes, the guests took advantage of their rival’s crisis period and at one point reduced the deficit to -6 points, which infuriated Željko Obradović.

Although no one expected such a turn of events in the match, the final minutes saw drama, in which Lundberg scored under a foul with a minute and a half to go, and returned a +9 point lead to his team.

Fortunately for the Belgrade team, Bayern couldn’t come back into the match afterwards, and the Black and Whites deservedly achieved their first victory in the EuroLeague in front of their fans!

In the next round of the EuroLeague, Partizan’s basketball players will face Maccabi, while Bayern will host Paris in Munich.
