Partizan’s basketball players defeated Alba with a score of 85:71 in the 31st round of the Euroleague.

Željko Obradović said after the match with Mornar in the ABA league that that match would have to be forgotten as soon as possible, and it seems that the same situation will be as with this one against Alba.

Of course, Partizan had moments in this match when they looked quite good, but there were many more that serve to be forgotten at the first opportunity and turn to new duels. A very weak first quarter could have been fatal for Partizan, if they had a significantly more powerful rival on the other side.

Then there was a weak start to the second, however, after Obradović’s timeout and the fans’ whistles, everything turned around. Partizan played better, but a new fall happened during the third quarter.

Partizan players are obviously lacking confidence, and it seems that they have now found it after this victory, after which their hope of being among the top 10 teams is still flickering.

It started quite poorly on both sides, unattractive and inefficient. Partizan couldn’t hit anything at the start of the game, as the black and whites practically missed everything. The only points in the first two minutes were scored by Frank Nilikina, when he scored over Justin Bean.

Admittedly, Partizan played quite good defense in that first quarter, so even though their offense wasn’t working, they weren’t able to concede points on the other side either.

However, then comes Alba’s series. First, David McCormack scored points, and then Bean was on the drive, after which he went to the free throw line, followed by a Baker three-pointer – 6:2. That’s when Partizan started to wake up, when Ife Lundberg goes to the free throw line and hits both.

Alba hit another three-pointer, but Vanja Marinković came to the free throw line, and then Isaiah Mike scored – 10:11.

Tyrik Jones managed to score by the end of the quarter, but Matteo Spagnolo scored the only points at the very end, when he was accurate from mid-range at the sound of the siren for the final 14:13.

The second quarter had a turbulent start for the black and whites, as Jani Wetzel scored six points in the first minute and a half of this quarter.

Then Željko Obradović called a timeout, during which the Grobari’s whistles were heard, for the first time this season on home ground. Obviously, that stirred Partizan up a bit, who played much better, and Vanja Marinković, Sterling Brown and Carlic Jones woke up.

It was this trio that managed to score the next six points, and Brendon Davies joined them, scoring with a free throw – 23:25.

Partizan was already threatening there, they took the lead, but Matt Thomas hit a three-pointer, and then the same player missed. Partizan got the rebound, a new attack, and Sterling Brown passes through the defense as if it doesn’t exist and records new points, this time with a foul, after which the black and whites take the lead – 27:25.

By the end of the quarter, the Partizan team turned on the engines, when they played much better. Bonga scored under the basket on the assist of Carlic Jones. Alba went into a crisis, they couldn’t really wake up, and Partizan scored points. Brendon Davies also stole the ball and dunked, and in the very finish Isak Bonga gave a three-pointer which went to halftime – 40:34.

The third quarter started well for Partizan, they played quite good defense, and Brendon Davies scored points from mid-range in two consecutive attacks. However, Partizan couldn’t pull away. Mike missed on the counter, after which Lundberg scored points from the counter – 48:40

A black and white series ensued, Ludnberg hit two free throws, but Schneider on the other side drew Koprivica into a foul on the basket. However, Bonga continued to play a fairly good game on both sides of the court. Hermanson made a mistake, after which Carlic Jones scored from mid-range.

Then Alba scored points in a row, Proćida scored first, then Matt Thomas, and Robert Baker, when Alba came to just three points – 59:56, and then Bonga hit two free throws for the end of this third quarter.

The fourth quarter started with points from Sterling Brown and Carlic Jones, who hit two three-pointers and thus practically set the fans on fire, when it was already clear that the black and whites would win. McCormack went to the free throw line.

Simply, in these last 10 minutes everything went smoothly and they finished the match in the same manner.
