Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced today, following an emergency session of the Defense Council, that a sabotage was planned on a section of the TurkStream pipeline in Vojvodina which supplies Hungary, due to which increased military surveillance and protection of the Hungarian section of the pipeline has been ordered, N1 writes.

“We have ordered increased military control and protection of the Hungarian section of the TurkStream pipeline,” Orban announced in a video message on Instagram after the Defense Council session.

Conversation with Vucic

Orban previously announced that he had also spoken with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, regarding information that Serbian authorities found powerful explosives with detonating equipment near critical gas infrastructure connecting Serbia and Hungary.

According to Orban, the pipeline is operating without interruption, and Serbia has also increased its protection, while authorities are conducting an investigation.

Orban also stated that Hungary has emerged from every crisis so far, but that “what is coming now will hit Europe hard.”

“Without energy, there is no economy. Without a functional economy, everything is at risk. Europe needs energy. From any source. It is time to set our priorities clearly,” Orban pointed out in a video message on the X network, adding that European countries now need energy from Russia, and will need it even more in the future.

Accusations against Ukraine

Orban repeated that Ukraine has been working for years to cut Europe off from Russian energy, and that it blew up the Nord Stream pipeline and closed the pipeline leading to Hungary.

According to him, by obstructing the “Druzhba” oil pipeline, Ukraine placed Hungary under an oil blockade, while the Russian section of the TurkStream pipeline is under constant military attack.

Vucic announced this morning on social media that he informed Orban in a telephone conversation about the first results of the investigation by Serbian military-police authorities regarding the threat to the critical gas infrastructure connecting Serbia and Hungary.

“Our units found explosives of devastating power and the fuses necessary for its activation,” Vucic stated, adding that he promised Orban he would keep him informed about the further course of the investigation.

Certain Hungarian investigative journalists estimate that the discovery of explosives near the pipeline in Serbia is a staged operation allegedly ordered by Orban to create a pretext for the eventual introduction of a state of emergency and to influence the outcome of the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12.

Szijjarto on the incident in Kanjiza

The section of the TurkStream pipeline located on Hungarian territory will be placed under military protection, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto announced after a meeting of the Defense Council, which was urgently convened on Sunday due to the explosives found near the gas infrastructure near Kanjiza, N1 writes.

Szijjarto informed the public via the social network Facebook about the Hungarian government’s stance on the events in Vojvodina.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister criticized the Ukrainians for the energy crisis, saying they are “trying to cut off the delivery of Russian oil and gas to Europe.”

“Unfortunately, Brussels is also their partner in this,” he added.

This was followed by an explanation of why the Ukrainians could be behind the incident near Kanjiza, stating that they have already carried out sabotages on the Nord Stream pipeline and the Druzhba oil pipeline, and that they have sent drones with which they intended to attack Hungary.
