The so-called Kosovo customs seized a car from Vladica Ćirković from Gračanica, on the Priština – Mitrovica road, Radio-televizija Gračanica announced.
Ćirković states that he was driving a car he borrowed from his sister and says he was told that by law he cannot drive with a power of attorney and that, after paying the fine, he should report to customs where they will tell him what will happen to the vehicle and the documents that were also confiscated from him.
Ćirković stated that he knows that such a measure was announced from November 1st, but that he does not know why at this moment his vehicle, which he had been using every day for eight years, was confiscated.
“Today I went to Kosovska Mitrovica to enroll my child in the Faculty of Medicine. When I was returning from Kosovska Mitrovica to Gračanica, a customs vehicle stopped me and asked for my documents, where I stopped and gave them the documents, a Serbian power of attorney, a permit and Kosovo documents, a driver’s license and an ID card. The police told me that from today I cannot drive with a power of attorney,” said Ćirković.
He told the customs officers, as he stated, that he did not know that, and that he would not have left if he had known.
“I heard on television that this measure comes into force on November 1st, and I thought I had a period of time to re-register the vehicle and whatever else is needed. However, they told me to follow them. My daughter was with me, and she was terribly scared, I’ve already taken her to the doctor twice,” said Ćirković.
He said that the owner of the vehicle is his sister and that she also has Kosovo documents.
“Today they took my car, will they take my child tomorrow? I live on the territory of Kosovo, I work here, I have an eight-member family. I used that vehicle for my personal purposes, for my family, I have a sick sister who has seven stents, if her condition worsens I have to turn to my neighbors. A sick mother, three children, a wife, I really don’t know what this is leading to, does anyone see this, does anyone know about this, I don’t know what else to tell you,” said Ćirković.
RTV Gračanica notes that Ćirković’s car with Belgrade license plates was confiscated.
