Stefanos Tsitsipas’ mother, Julia Apostoli, caused a stir with a statement about Novak Djokovic. She claimed that Djokovic is not Serbian, but Bosnian, and that he simply chose to be Serbian?!
– Those who condemn Novak must understand some things. I have had a multifaceted life. I lived in Belgrade for a while, so I speak Serbo-Croatian. Incidentally, although everyone writes that Novak is Serbian, he is actually a Bosnian by birth, he just chose one of the nationalities that lived in the former Yugoslavia – she pointed out.

She also talked about the NATO bombing, Djokovic’s and Federer’s upbringing.
– He had a very difficult childhood. This can be explained. As a child, he had to hide in shelters from air raids. Federer grew up in a happy country, Switzerland. This is also worth considering. He didn’t know those moments when you have to risk something to achieve something, said the mother of the Greek tennis player.
Julia Apostoli was born in Moscow on August 13, 1964, and is a former tennis player. Her best career ranking was 194th in singles and 130th in doubles. Her father is Sergei Salnikov, who was half Russian and half Greek, and she married Apostolos Tsitsipas with whom she has two sons – Stefanos (26) and Petros (24).
