The session of the Zaječar assembly has ended. Previously, although the chairman wanted to start the session despite the noise, councillors left the hall after a smoke bomb was thrown. Around noon, the session continued, but there was pushing between private security and opposition councillors, and some were also expelled from the hall.

At the repeated constitutive session, the Zaječar Assembly elected the new mayor of Zaječar, Vladimir Videnović from the SNS.

Immediately after the decision was made to appoint Videnović as mayor and to elect the members of the city council – the session was soon over.

This was supposed to be a continuation of the constitutive session at which the mandates were to be confirmed. However, after the constitutive session, a second session had already been held, which the opposition also claimed was illegal.

“The government was re-elected in an identical, criminal way, they again tried today to form a verification commission and to re-confirm the mandates. They did it in the same way as last time. The High Court made a decision and a ruling that everything that is happening today is illegitimate, illegal. We will do everything in our power to react and to annul this as well,” said Dragana Rašić, the holder of the list “Change We Believe In” in Zaječar.

According to the TV Nova reporter, comments from those present are that “a coup d’état is in force,” and cordons of police and security have been in the assembly hall and in front of the building since the morning.
