MAJOR TURNAROUND: Trump Drops Tariffs on Europe, Reaches Deal With NATO Over Greenland!

U.S. President Donald Trump has abandoned plans to introduce tariffs on eight European countries. He also stated that an agreement has been reached regarding Greenland.

Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social that he had reached an agreement with NATO commander Mark Rutte concerning a “future agreement on Arctic security.”

“Based on a very productive meeting I had with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, we formed a framework for a future agreement regarding Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic region. This solution, if implemented, will be excellent for the United States of America and all NATO countries,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

“Based on this understanding, I will not introduce the tariffs that were scheduled to take effect on February 1. Additional talks are being held regarding the Golden Dome in connection with Greenland. More information will be available as discussions progress. Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and various others, as needed, will be responsible for the negotiations — they will report directly to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he concluded in his post.

This comes as a reversal after Trump previously stated that he wanted to “get his hands on” Greenland.

Trump has repeatedly said that the U.S. will defend NATO, but that he is not convinced the alliance would support the United States if Washington needed it, suggesting that this was part of his aggressive stance regarding Greenland.

Because of those statements, Mark Rutte told him at an event following a speech that the Alliance would stand by the United States if that country — NATO’s most powerful member — were attacked.

“Rest assured, absolutely. Your allies will be with you,” he added.

Shortly thereafter, Trump dropped the tariffs.
