With the assistance of the so-called Kosovo Police, Priština authorities are evicting the Janićijević family from their apartment in North Mitrovica. The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, assesses that the eviction is a continuation of Albin Kurti’s terror, stating that Serbs will not be left homeless.
On Kralja Petra Street in North Mitrovica, Priština authorities are evicting the Janićijević family from their apartment, with the assistance of the so-called Kosovo Police, which is preventing anyone from entering the building.
This is an apartment that the family had purchased from the “Trepča” company, like many Serbs from the north decades ago.
Family Contests Eviction
Miljojka Janićijević explains that it is an apartment for which the family has a proper resolution, and that no one else was living in it, otherwise they wouldn’t have even considered it.
“The apartment was vacant and assigned to my husband,” Janićijević said, pointing out that her family had lived there for almost three decades and that the owner had not made any claims.
Asked about the eviction deadline, she stated that in March, she found a notice on the door giving her 30 days, and that she couldn’t move out because she has cancer.
“I also had an accident after that. I didn’t move out, and now I hear they’ve come to evict us. I don’t know why,” Janićijević said, emphasizing that it would be good if such actions were not carried out on an ethnic basis.
Petković Condemns “Terror”
The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, reacted to the eviction of the Janićijević family, stating that it is a continuation of Albin Kurti’s terror against Serbs.
“The so-called Kosovo Police is evicting the Serbian Janićijević family, a single mother of two children, from an apartment in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, which they legally purchased, but which was seized by an Albanian! They are mistaken if they think Serbs will be left without a roof over their heads,” Petković wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
