KSS CONFIRMS END OF COOPERATION: Marina Maljković Leaves Serbian Women’s National Basketball Team Bench!

Marina Maljković will no longer be the head coach of the Serbian women’s national basketball team, the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS) has officially confirmed.

“A completely new cycle of qualifications for EuroBasket 2027 is starting, as well as a generally new multi-year chapter for the Serbian women’s national basketball team. I am not entitled to the position of the Serbian women’s basketball coach, and I believe it is time to give new people a chance from the very start. I am currently focusing my knowledge and energy maximally on building a strong Serbian club in European competition, which should serve as a pillar for our national team in the coming years. A visible improvement in the quality of competition in the national league, from which new players will emerge for the national team, is already noticeable, and I hope this growth will continue. I thank the Basketball Federation of Serbia, all my associates, and most of all the players for the successful cooperation. I, of course, wish the national team much success in future competitions,” stated Marina Maljković.

Gratitude was also expressed by the President of the KSS, Nebojša Čović: “It is certainly not pleasant news when the symbol of women’s basketball in our country tells you that she is leaving the position of head coach. The current situation dictates that in addition to the men’s team, which Dušan Alimpijević has taken over, we also have a new face in the position of women’s national team coach. We are turning a new page, entering a new qualifying cycle, and in the coming period, we will decide who Marina’s successor will be. We thank Marina for her sincere and honest relationship, and above all for all the successes and medals she has brought to our country and our Federation,” said Čović.

Marina Maljković remains on the bench of Women’s Basketball Club Crvena zvezda. She took over the ‘Red-Whites’ at the end of the previous season.
