An 18-year-old citizen of North Macedonia, Andrej T., is suspected of the attempted murder of Marko Ljubiša Kana (56) from Budva, the Montenegrin Police Administration announced. The Montenegrin police have asked citizens to contact them if they see Andrej T.
“The Police Administration, after identifying and processing the suspect for the criminal act of attempted murder, A.T. (18), a citizen of North Macedonia, who is armed and on the run, calls on citizens to immediately, if they have any information that he has rented accommodation or is otherwise staying in facilities on the territory of Montenegro, provide information about this person to the nearest police station, via the emergency number 122 or anonymously on 19969,” the Police Administration announced.
The police warned citizens that from this moment on, any further action or conscious concealment of information about Andrej T.’s movements or whereabouts, including providing accommodation services, may constitute the criminal offense of aiding an offender after a crime has been committed, which is subject to legal responsibility.
In cooperation with the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, the police found evidence and shed light on the attempted murder of Marko Ljubiša Kana, which occurred on August 7, 2025, in the Hotel Maestral complex in Budva.
“By undertaking numerous investigative, operational, tactical, technical, forensic, and evidentiary measures and actions in coordination with the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office, police officers quickly identified the perpetrator of this serious crime as A.T. (18), a citizen of North Macedonia,” the statement said.
Andrej T. is suspected of firing two projectiles at Kana, who sustained head injuries. After committing the crime, Andrej T. fled in an unknown direction.
“The injured M.Lj. was immediately given medical attention and was discharged for further home treatment after being medically cared for,” the police said.
It is suspected that the citizen of North Macedonia, while planning the murder, stayed in a hotel under a forged document—an ID card in the name of J.G., as a citizen of the Republic of Serbia.
“Officers of the Regional Security Center ‘South’ – Budva Security Department, on the order of the competent Higher State Prosecutor’s Office, have filed a criminal complaint against A.T. on suspicion of having committed three criminal offenses: attempted murder, illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives, and forgery of a document,” the statement said.
