Kenan Sipahi, one of the best basketball players of the Turkish national team, spoke to the Serbian media in fluent Serbian about the upcoming duel against the Serbian national team.
Turkey defeated Estonia 84:64, Sipahi scored four points in 22 minutes with one rebound and three assists.
And Sipahi spoke flatteringly about the opponent:
“Respect to Estonia, they play really well, they play tough. They almost beat Latvia, we opened the game well and that’s important,” he spoke briefly about the opponent from the fourth round.
Almost immediately, the focus shifted to the match that will have the epithet of the derby of the group stage, probably the entire tournament – the meeting between Turkey and Serbia:
“Now we will play the last game against Serbia, it doesn’t change much whether we are first or second, we are going to win.”
About his team’s chances against the “eagles,” he said:
“We are playing well, but only if we play this smart. Today we lost easy balls for about five, six minutes. If we play smart, we think we have a chance.”
When asked about Jokić and the duel with Alperen Şengün, he just smiled with a short “We’ll see,” and then he also spoke about Bogdan Bogdanović, who left the tournament due to an injury, so Serbia will have to fight for gold without the captain:
“I can tell you that Serbia is still the favorite. Bogi is of course the best player in Europe, one of them. But they have many more, there is Marko, there are others,” he concluded, alluding to Marko Gudurić.
The match between Serbia and Turkey is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, at 8:15 p.m.
