Several hundred milk producers from central Serbia, dissatisfied with the price, buyout, and large import of milk, blocked the Ibar highway in Mrčajevci and the road in Knić, on the Kragujevac – Kraljevo route, with tractors. At the protest in Knić, tons of milk were spilled.
N1 reporters report that this is the most massive farmer protest so far. In Knić alone, about four tons of milk were spilled.
More than a hundred tractors are at the blockade on the Ibar, and a large number of them are also in Knić, our reporters state.
It is planned, say the milk producers at the protest in Mrčajevci, for the blockade to last from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., although it is not excluded that, if the farmers decide otherwise, the blockade will be permanent until calls arrive from the Government of Serbia—not the Minister of Agriculture, but the Government of Serbia—because the agony in milk production has not lasted for weeks, but for months and years.
As reported by the Nova reporter for N1, in this region the milk buyout price has been returned to 2013 levels and ranges from 25 to 34 dinars, while some dairies have even stopped buying milk due to large imports.

The N1 reporter from Knić reports that the situation there is similar, but producers there also brought balloons of milk and large canisters, which they spilled as a sign of protest.
She states that there is a large turnout of farmers at the blockade near Knić as well.
Farmers state that they were offered 25 dinars for a liter of milk, and that it is devastating for a liter of milk to be cheaper than a chocolate-covered banana treat.
“Necessity drove me to come here, people,” a farmer from the village of Grabovac, in the municipality of Knić, told N1.
He also explained why the milk is being spilled.

“The state does not stand behind us at all, they import that milk, I don’t know, cheeses, milk, may the dear God preserve us. We are in the mud, I just changed my clothes, people, we are knee-deep in mud, we trudge through mud, we have gone through living hell, I have three sons, I need to feed them,” the farmer laments.
Milk producers demand the protection of the domestic milk and meat market through the introduction of levies and quotas, the establishment of a laboratory for control at the border to prevent fraud with milk and dairy products, and anti-dumping measures on all products that threaten domestic agricultural production.
Farmers also demand the return of milk and meat prices to the level before the reduction, as well as guaranteed milk buyout from every producer.
