During the night in Banje Selo near Bijelo Polje, a fire broke out in the house of arrested double murderer Alija Balijagić.
Upon receiving a police call at 00:43 hours reporting a house fire at the location of Banje Selo, owned by Alija Balijagić, a team from the Bijelo Polje Fire and Rescue Service immediately dispatched one technical and one special vehicle to the scene.
– Upon arrival at the scene, the fire was found to be in an advanced stage, with all rooms ablaze and the roof structure collapsing. The fire was subsequently brought under control, and the extinguishing process lasted until 4 am – Edin Kolić, commander of the Bijelo Polje Fire and Rescue Service, told RINA.
Police arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation; the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
At the time the fire broke out, there was no one in the house, so there were no injuries, but significant material damage was caused.
Seven firefighters with two special and one technical vehicle participated in the firefighting intervention.
