A real drama unfolded today in Belgrade’s Bulevar kralja Aleksandra when the police surrounded and stopped a car.
According to eyewitnesses, the scene was horrifying. The police chased a man in a red Skoda, catching up with him near Batutova Street.
Three shots were heard, after which members of the UKP (Criminal Police Department) pulled a person out of the red Skoda and arrested him. As confirmed for the Nova.rs portal, the person suspected of murdering Nikola Stanković Pivcet injured a police officer in the shootout during the chase.

“They first tried to arrest him at the Law Faculty. With gunfire. But the other side continued driving on the tracks. The car headed towards me and I thank him for his composure in driving so as not to hit me in the car where I was with my wife and child,” one of the participants wrote in a comment.
Firearms were used, but there were no casualties.
“I was in Bulevar, at the traffic lights at the intersection with Batutova. Suddenly I saw a red car going down the Bulevar on the tracks, and behind it a black one, obviously chasing it. The red car tried to turn, but then the black car blocked it and suddenly other cars appeared from all sides and surrounded it, three or four of them. Suddenly people with UKP badges jumped out and shots were heard, then I saw them pull a person out of the red car and throw him on the asphalt. I think there was one more person in that red car. They shot a meter away from me, it wasn’t pleasant at all. I was scared, it was really scary. I’m shaking all over, I told myself to step on the gas and go,” said one eyewitness.
A search is underway for more people in an action by police officers from the Belgrade Police Department.
