The Minister of Culture of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, opened the bilingual exhibition “Ivo Andrić and Italy – Documents” (Ivo Andrić e l’Italia – documenti) at the Serbian Orthodox Church Municipality in Trieste, on the occasion of 50 years since the death of the writer Ivo Andrić.
Selaković assessed that the exhibition in Trieste is a reminder that Andrić’s work “is not only a national treasure,” but also a part of European and world heritage.
“This exhibition, prepared by the Archives of Serbia, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Serbia, is not just an homage to a great writer. It is also a testimony to the lasting cultural connection between Serbia and Italy, as well as an example of how cultural diplomacy builds bridges of understanding and friendship,” Selaković said, as conveyed by the ministry in a statement.
Before the opening of the exhibition, Selaković stated that the exhibition will also be presented in other cities abroad.
