The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kraljevo filed charges on January 13, 2025, against M.V. from Niš, a member of the Serbian Army, for the criminal offense of “aggravated endangerment of public traffic.” M.V. was driving a military vehicle that, on September 21 of last year, rolled over a passenger car on the Kraljevo-Raška road, killing five people, including three children.
The indictment proposes that the accused M.V. be remanded in custody.
“The investigation conducted revealed that the accused M.V. was driving a PASARS self-propelled gun, a type of armored fighting vehicle of the Serbian Army, at the time of the incident, under the influence of 0.37 mg/ml of alcohol in his blood, rendering him incapable of safely driving the vehicle,” the response provided to the N1 website by the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kraljevo states.
The prosecution further states that the military vehicle driver, due to his condition, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a Ford Focus, driven by Danijel Lazović.
