Three American fighter jets were shot down in a so-called “friendly fire” incident, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced, as reported by CNN.

According to CENTCOM, the Kuwaiti air defense mistakenly shot down F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft during intense combat operations involving Iranian planes, ballistic missiles, and drones.

“During active operations, unintentional fire from the Kuwaiti air defense occurred, during which US Air Force aircraft were hit,” the statement said.

All six crew members successfully ejected, were quickly located, and are in stable condition. Kuwait acknowledged the incident, and CENTCOM thanked the Kuwaiti forces for their cooperation and support during the operation.

The cause of the incident is the subject of an investigation, writes CNN.

The aircraft were participating in military action against Iran called “Operation Epic Fury.” The Minister of Defense of Kuwait previously confirmed that several American combat aircraft crashed on the territory of that country.

New videos circulating on social media allegedly show the moments after an American F-15 Eagle fighter was shot down over Kuwait.

According to available information, the pilot survived the crash. At a crucial moment, he managed to eject and, after landing on the ground, he was found and cared for by local residents.

After he was found, the American pilot was placed in the trunk of a car and transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
