The Washington administration has extended the operating license for the Oil Industry of Serbia until January 23, RTS reports.
After 84 days of U.S. sanctions on NIS, OFAC has granted a license for the continuation of operations of the Oil Industry of Serbia.
As RTS previously learned, President Aleksandar Vučić held important talks today on resolving the NIS issue with the Washington administration, OFAC and the State Department, as well as with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
More detailed information on what this means for Serbia and the resolution of sanctions on NIS will be presented by the president already during tomorrow on Radio Television of Serbia.
Earlier today, Vučić congratulated citizens on the New Year and emphasized that he believes that in the next 24 hours we will rejoice in phenomenal political news.
Last week, on December 24, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a new license to the Oil Industry of Serbia, allowing negotiations on the sale of the Russian stake with an extended deadline until March 24.
It has been confirmed that the Russians are negotiating the sale of their stake with Hungary’s MOL.
Since the introduction of sanctions on NIS, there has been no import of crude oil via the Adriatic pipeline, the Pančevo refinery has not been operating since December 2, and Serbia has been relying on state reserves and the import of petroleum products.
