Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sector for Emergency Situations, will carry out the removal, transport, and destruction of an American-made World War II aerial bomb, model “AN-M44,” on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in the early morning hours. The bomb was discovered at the Belgrade Waterfront construction site on Nikola Kravcova Street.
The bomb has a total weight of approximately 470 kilograms, with an explosive charge of around 250 kilograms. It was used during Allied bombings of German positions during the liberation of Belgrade in 1944.
Specialist teams from the Sector for Emergency Situations, responsible for unexploded ordnance, previously conducted detailed reconnaissance, identification, and assessment of the bomb to establish safe conditions for its removal and destruction.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on residents living in the immediate vicinity of the location, near the Galerija Shopping Center and along the streets Nikola Kravcova, Vožd Đorđe Stratimirović, Luka Ćelović Trebinjac, Hercegovačka (between Nikola Kravcova and Vožd Đorđe Stratimirović), as well as Bulevar Woodrow Wilson (from the corner with Vožd Đorđe Stratimirović Street), to leave their apartments on Sunday, December 28, between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m., if possible.
If leaving apartments is not feasible, residents are advised to open windows, lower blinds, and stay away from windows.
Additionally, residents of Nikola Kravcova Street and Bulevar Woodrow Wilson, near the Galerija Shopping Center, are requested to move their parked vehicles no later than Saturday, December 27, by 10:00 p.m. Vehicles not removed will be relocated to parking lots at Slavija and Staro Sajmište.
The site where the bomb was found will be secured at all times by the Belgrade City Police Department.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs appeals to citizens to fully comply with instructions and orders from the authorities and to follow updates through public media to ensure that this operation is carried out safely, in a controlled manner, and as quickly as possible.
