At least one person died when Hurricane Kirk hit the southern part of France, leaving more than 65,000 households without power, French television BFM reported this morning.
The wind near the port of Sete, in southern France, overturned three boats, killing one person and leaving another in critical condition.
The three most affected municipalities are the Atlantic Pyrenees, where 16,000 households are without power, the Doubs, where 9,500 households have lost power, and the Jura, where 4,900 have lost power.

Rail traffic was interrupted this morning on several local lines in five regions due to flooding and trees falling on the tracks caused by Hurricane Kirk.
The French newspaper Le Figaro reported that significant damage was recorded last night in the premises of the National Assembly.
In the part where the deputies’ offices are located, water entered part of the premises, especially in the basement.
