A major security incident occurred today in front of the Central Intelligence Agency headquarters in Langley, Virginia on Wednesday.
A man allegedly fired multiple shots into the air with a pistol and made threats at the entrance.
The Fairfax County Police in the US state of Virginia announced that the “incident” at the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) headquarters has been resolved and that the suspect has been detained.
Law enforcement officials said they closed roads near the CIA headquarters in Langley, near Washington, due to the incident.
“The incident has been resolved. The suspect surrendered to the Fairfax County Police and is in custody,” the police announced on X.

Authorities reacted quickly, with numerous police officers and a SWAT team arriving at the scene of the shooting, NBC News reports.
The attack came just hours after President Donald Trump approved the release of 80,000 pages of previously classified documents related to the 1963 assassination of former President John F. Kennedy.
Central Intelligence Agency security told police in a call that a man “fired several shots into the air”.

Local media report that an unidentified person made threats with a pistol in front of the entrance to the spy agency’s property at around 10.30 am local time, but that no shots were fired and no one was injured.
The Fairfax County Police sent a special unit and an explosives department to the entrance to the CIA headquarters.
Roads leading to CIA headquarters were closed as authorities contained the threats.
Videos from the scene show a man sitting on a bench near the main gate while a police cordon is at a distance. All roads approaching Langley are currently blocked.
CIA headquarters, named after President George Bush Sr., is located in a forest in northern Virginia, about 13 kilometers west of the US capital.
