In the night between Wednesday and Thursday, the Austrian police stopped a car with young men, including minors from Serbia and Austria, when a scene was seen that is only seen in movies.
The driver, as stated, violated the speed limits several times and was stopped at the exit of the A22 highway in the area of the Floridsdorf Bridge, the Austrian police announced.
There were four young men in the vehicle: a 19-year-old driver from Austria and three 17-year-olds from Serbia and Austria. During the arrest, it turned out that none of the young men owned the vehicle.
The driver took off on foot
The four young men gave different statements about who owned the vehicle and got tangled in a web of lies. Suddenly, the driver started to flee on foot towards the New Danube. The policemen immediately started chasing him.
And the other young men fled
After a short time, the policemen found the driver, who was trying to hide in the tall grass. The nineteen-year-old was temporarily arrested. The three other passengers in the vehicle fled on foot while the policemen were chasing their friend.
The police started a search for them, but were unable to find them. According to police reports, none of the young men involved had a valid driver’s license.
The investigation was taken over by the Northern Branch of the Vienna State Criminal Police, which continues the search for the young men from the vehicle.
