U.S. President Donald Trump said today that he believes “he will have the honor to take Cuba.” Asked by reporters whether he could launch a military offensive against Cuba next, Trump answered affirmatively.
“Whether I liberate it, take it over — I could do whatever I want with it,” Trump said.

Trump has halted deliveries of Venezuelan oil to Cuba and threatened to impose tariffs on any country that sells oil to Cuba. Cuba said on Friday that it has begun talks with the United States in hopes of easing the crisis. In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly stated that Cuba is on the verge of collapse and that it wants to reach an agreement with the United States. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said last week that the island has not received a fuel shipment for three months.
