Republika Srpska is preparing a report for the UN Security Council and Russia will present that report, said tonight the President of RS Milorad Dodik after a meeting in Sochi with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
“I had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia (Sergey Lavrov) two to three weeks ago. Russia, as a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, has the right to be involved,” Dodik told RTRS.
Dodik recalled that Russia will chair the UN Security Council session in October, with Bosnia and Herzegovina on the agenda.
“We discussed what needs to be done from our side. Russia supports the parties in BiH reaching agreements. Interference in the internal affairs of any country is unacceptable, as is what has been done so far by the meddling of an illegitimate foreigner,” Dodik said, referring to the High Representative for BiH Christian Schmidt, whom Republika Srpska does not recognize.
He emphasized that the damage can only be repaired if “all decrees made by the foreigner in his illegal mandate are annulled.”
“Russia intends to strengthen its economy. Putin spoke to me about the development of BRICS. It is important to hear that, in order for us to know how we can position ourselves on issues that are also important for us,” Dodik stated.
He underlined that international interventionism has caused relations between Bosniaks and Serbs to deteriorate.
“The assessment is that these relations cannot easily be repaired. Anyone who tries to impose decisions should leave. Putin agrees with that. I also agree that it is necessary to try to talk in BiH,” Dodik said.
Topic of discussion also the Court of BiH ruling
He also stated that the topic of conversation with Putin included the ruling of the Court of BiH.
“I explained the situation concerning myself. He asked me what happened in court. I said I was sentenced to one year and that I paid it, and that they banned me from political activity, but that they cannot ban me from being engaged in the function of president and that we decided that the inviolable will of the people is on the side of the political option I lead,” Dodik said.
He also emphasized that the conversation was good.
“We also talked about how it would be good not to ‘let go’ of the Balkans and not to leave it to the Germans, who are not well-disposed toward us. Regardless of our desire to improve relations, they behave the same,” Dodik noted.
Before the meeting, the President of Russia addressed the plenary session of the 22nd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, which Dodik also attended.
“I am leaving here with positive impressions, support for Dayton, for negotiations, and the message that foreigners bring nothing good,” Dodik said.
He assessed that it was a “successful meeting” and that “everything left an impression” on him.
“Putin’s speech was the best elaboration of a multipolar world. Once again, everyone should study it. He explained in a natural way the paranoia spreading across Europe, that the Russians are coming. The Russians are not coming anywhere, let them sleep peacefully. The problems are in the West. The answers to the questions were direct. It was a privilege to attend here,” Dodik concluded.
