The greatest tennis player of all time, Novak Đoković, said after his defeat to Jannik Sinner in the Roland Garros semi-finals that his priority for the rest of the season is playing Wimbledon and the US Open, and added that he doesn’t know if he will play in Paris next year.

Đoković, a 24-time Grand Slam winner, turned 38 in May.

“I said this might have been my last match at Roland Garros; I didn’t say it was. Twelve months is a long period for me at this moment. Do I want to play again? Yes, I do. But will I be able to do that in a year, I don’t know. That’s all I can say at this moment,” Đoković said at the press conference after the match.

He then stated that he would stick to the plan he set at the beginning of the season.

“At this moment, I will try to stick to the plan I had, which is to play Grand Slams. Those tournaments are my priority on the schedule. Wimbledon and the US Open, they are in the plan. So, that’s all I can say for now. If nothing unforeseen happens, I want to play those two tournaments for sure, but for the others, I’m not really sure,” Đoković underlined.

Đoković believes there are chances to reach a 25th Grand Slam trophy by the end of his career.

“Wimbledon is next; it’s my favorite tournament since childhood. I will do everything I can to be ready for it. I think my best chance for another Grand Slam is at Wimbledon, possibly in Australia,” the Serb added.

Đoković emphasized that he is proud of what he achieved at Roland Garros.

“I came here not in the best form. Congratulations to Jannik; he was too good for me tonight. In the third set, on set point, I had chances; I wanted to finish with a forehand and I missed. Players like Sinner and Alcaraz constantly put pressure on you and make any opportunities you get very rare, which makes you more anxious and think you have to hit winners. And that’s what happened; I missed,” Đoković concluded, thanking the audience for their phenomenal support.
