At the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran, and Social Affairs, the Serbian government issued a decision at today’s session to grant Serbian citizenship to Adriana Andrea Jovović and Gabriel Alejandro Jovović, citizens of Argentina and children of Blagoje Jovović, the assassin of former NDH leader and war criminal Ante Pavelić.
The descendants of Blagoje Jovović have never lost their connection to their homeland or their memory of their father’s deed and personal sacrifice, the Serbian government stated. According to the government, Jovović himself “left a mark on Serbian history through his life and actions.”

Blagoje Jovović, as a member of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland, left the country in 1945 and did not return until 1998, when he attended a relative’s funeral and solved one of the greatest post-war mysteries—who carried out the assassination of Ante Pavelić on April 10, 1957, in the town of Lomas del Palomar near Buenos Aires.
He revealed this information, which even surprised his closest family members, to the now-deceased Metropolitan Amfilohije under the Ostrog Monastery.
