Citizens paid a symbolic tribute to the victims of the tragedy that occurred 14 days ago at the Novi Sad Railway Station, demanding accountability for the collapse of the canopy that killed 14 people.

Novi Sad residents were joined by opposition MPs in the Serbian Parliament who unfurled a black drape in front of the parliament building in Belgrade and stood in silence for 14 minutes.

Two weeks have passed since the tragedy at Novi Sad Railway Station, where 14 people died in a canopy collapse, while three others were seriously injured. The opposition in the city, under the slogan “Stop, Novi Sad”, called on citizens to stand in silence for 14 minutes – from 11:52 to 12:06 – to pay tribute to the victims and demand accountability for the accident that occurred two weeks ago.

In front of the Railway Station, a black cloth was unfurled, followed by the release of black balloons. Novi Sad residents were joined by opposition MPs in the Serbian Parliament who unfurled a black drape in front of the parliament building in Belgrade and stood in silence for 14 minutes. Fourteen people died in the collapse of the canopy at Novi Sad Railway Station on November 1, and three people were seriously injured.

Due to the collapsed canopy in Novi Sad, Prime Minister MiloÅ” Vučević announced that news of new resignations is expected by the end of the week and called on the relevant prosecutor’s office to announce the progress of the investigation. Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure Goran Vesić resigned on November 5.

The investigation into the accident at Novi Sad Railway Station is ongoing. The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad has so far questioned 66 people.
