Crvena zvezda and Partizan basketball teams were defeated in the sixth round of the EuroLeague in matches with poor refereeing decisions.

First, the red-whites were defeated as visitors to Zalgiris with a score of 86:84 with a basket by Bryant Dunston at the buzzer. Zalgiris had 1.3 seconds for an attack, and the clock did not start ticking at the moment the experienced center caught the ball. Pay attention to the scoreboard in the upper right corner.

That was the last straw, so from Mali Kalemegdan, with a report on the club’s website and the headline “Disgrace and Shame in Kaunas,” they made it clear what they thought of the game and the refereeing.

Željko Obradović, the first man of Crvena zvezda, soon spoke out, calling the game a “circus of referees.”

Gioannis Sfairopoulos was not calm either. During the game, he filed a complaint about the referees’ decision and explanation, after Alen Smailagić hit Nikola Kalinić in the face with his elbow and received a foul, stating that when watching the recording, they did not see Smailagić’s intention to hit Kalinić.

The Greek coach demonstratively left the press conference after one sentence. You can see that moment at the beginning of the video:

A festival of refereeing decisions followed in the Aleksandar Nikolić Hall at the Partizan – Monaco match, which annoyed the black-and-white fans.

PRATITE NAS I NA FEJSBUKU:

For example, a basket from out of bounds at the moment when a close match is being decided.

Or a foul by Vanja Marinković on Mike James in an even later period of the match. The American hit a difficult shot and got an additional free throw, and many people were drawn to the position of his leg.

James was warned several times during the match, but did not receive a technical foul even for the mentioned situation with the Partizan captain’s foul. For example, in the fourth quarter of the game in Kaunas, Zvezda guard Isaiah Canaan received a technical foul for that after hitting a three-pointer.

Fans of the two Belgrade teams united and flooded the EuroLeague’s social media accounts, where it is impossible to escape the Serbian language, but also messages in English.

“How long do you think you’ll steal from Serbian clubs?”, “Both teams robbed, where is this going?”, “I would like Zvezda and Partizan to leave the ‘LEAGUE’. Viewership would be halved”, “Terrible refereeing for both Zvezda and Partizan” – these are just some of the messages.
