DECISION HAS BECOME FINAL: CEC BiH certified Dodik’s SNSD list for early elections!

The Central Election Commission (CEC BiH) announced today that the certification of the SNSD list for the early presidential elections in the Republic of Srpska has become final and enforceable.

“According to the position of the Commission, the decision on the certification of the SNSD candidacy has already acquired final status. This means that there is no legal basis for its annulment, except in the event that the candidate of that party acts contrary to the provisions of the Election Law of BiH, which could trigger the need for sanctions,” the CEC BiH stated.

The reopening of the procedure, that is, the annulment of the SNSD electoral list, was requested by Commission member Suad Arnautović, after Judge Sena Uzunović, in the case against the current democratically elected President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, sent a letter yesterday to the CEC stating that, according to the final verdict for contempt of decisions by Christian Schmidt, Dodik cannot be the president of the party.

“The Central Election Commission of BiH has completed the process of certifying political entities and candidates for the upcoming early elections for the President of the Republic of Srpska and has determined the order of political entities on the ballot in accordance with the provisions of the Election Law of BiH and by-laws,” the CEC stated and added:

“Among the registered and certified political entities is also the political party Alliance of Independent Social Democrats – SNSD – Milorad Dodik.”

They noted that an appeal against the decision to certify the said political party was submitted to the Court of BiH by the political entity “For Justice and Order – List of Nebojša Vukanović.”

“After considering the appeal, the Court of BiH, at the session held on October 10 of the current year, issued a ruling rejecting the said appeal and determining that the CEC decision on the certification of the SNSD is correct and lawful, and that the appeal is unfounded,” the CEC statement said. The official announcement emphasizes that the CEC decision has become final and enforceable.
