At the “United Nations” Elementary School in the Belgrade neighborhood of Cerak Vinogradi today around 2:00 p.m., a fence fell on a first-grade student. Unofficially, it was a girl, and regarding the incident, the school’s principal, Vensa Radovanović Penevski, spoke to “Blic.”
As the principal of the “United Nations” Elementary School told “Blic,” today, shortly before the start of the first class in the afternoon shift, around 2:00 p.m., a child, a first-grade student of the “United Nations” Elementary School, was injured.
“The mother brought the child to the schoolyard, sat in the car, when the fence fell from the outer side of the yard and injured the child. The mother immediately took the child to the University Children’s Clinic in Tiršova for an examination, and the child is conscious. We are waiting for further information from the parents. The circumstances that led to the child’s injury will be determined later, about which you will be duly informed,” emphasized principal Vensa Radovanović Penevski.
The fence that fell on the children is lying down at the back entrance to the schoolyard.
As “Blic’s” reporter found out, at 1:50 p.m. the school janitor unlocked the gate so that the students could enter the yard, and thus the school, after which the fence soon fell.
“I really don’t know the details, I unlocked the gate around ten to two so the students could come in. Then I went upstairs with the children to the daycare. As far as I know, the gate fell after two o’clock. I really don’t know the details,” the janitor told “Blic.”
The police are on the scene conducting an investigation.
