Serbia signed an agreement today with the American company Archer for the purchase of air taxis and chose the company as its preferred aircraft partner for EXPO 2027, the Archer company announced.
Minister of Finance Siniša Mali and the Chief Commercial Officer of the American company “Archer Aviation,” Nikhil Goel, signed a Partnership Agreement in Davos, Switzerland, which is intended to be the framework for cooperation between the Serbian government and that company for the introduction of electric air taxi services in Serbia.
“When we had the opportunity to host such a significant event as the Expo, we knew we wanted to take a step forward when it comes to new technologies, technological innovations, artificial intelligence, and much more. That is why it was important for us to bring the first air taxis to Belgrade, and we look forward to fulfilling that promise,” said Mali.
In addition, Archer and the government of Serbia plan to explore development opportunities in industrialization sectors, including rare minerals for batteries and magnets.
The contract, signed in the presence of President Aleksandar Vučić and the CEO of the Archer company, Adam Goldstein, provides for the purchase of up to 25 aircraft, in accordance with the current legal framework.
“It is important for us to cooperate technologically with one of the best and strongest companies in the entire world, to bring the most modern, top-tier American technology to Serbia, and to be long-term partners,” Vučić stated on his “buducnostsrbijeav” account on the social network Instagram.
He added that he hopes the citizens of Serbia will therefore be “proud of their country.”
“We have much more to do and a bit more than a year of preparation, but I believe that people in Serbia will be more than satisfied with everything we can present through our partnership for Expo,” wrote Vučić.
The Archer company states that with the signing of the contract, it has been officially designated as the official partner for “flying taxis” for the Expo fair, which will be held from May to August in Belgrade next year.
