Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic stated today that the police have identified 11 people suspected of throwing icicles and other objects at Ana Bekuta during a concert at the Serbian New Year celebration in Cacak.
“The police have identified 11 individuals who, in our opinion, committed acts. Nine individuals threw objects at both the orchestra and Ana, one person threw a plastic bucket into the restricted area, and one person entered the restricted area. We have submitted this to the prosecution, and the prosecution should declare today whether there are criminal acts or not. Prosecutors usually ask if someone wants to prosecute the perpetrators privately. What now, Ana Bekuta should privately prosecute those who threw objects at her?” said Dacic while guesting on TV Pink.
According to him, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and prosecutors have had many disputes in previous months over whether throwing eggs and paint at the police is a criminal offense or not.
“I think that is an avoidance of taking certain measures. If the police had thrown objects at someone like that, they would surely have filed a lawsuit,” the minister assessed.
He emphasized that the behavior of opposition party sympathizers and blockaders toward Ana Bekuta is unheard of and uncivilized.
“Sympathizers of opposition parties and blockaders came to this concert last night. This is unheard of and uncivilized behavior, especially toward Ana Bekuta, who gave them a moral lesson in behavior and asked them if they were ashamed of what they were doing. How is she to blame now for holding a concert?” emphasized Dacic.
