For the first time in the history of the Winter Olympic Games, the parade of athletes was held in a decentralized format, at competition venues in Milan, Livigno, Predazzo, and Cortina. Four locations, one rhythm, one vision.
Athletes paraded at locations closest to the venues where they competed, turning the geography of the Games into a unique, shared stage. Such a dispersed parade became a metaphor for global harmony – hearts beating simultaneously in multiple places, a world capable of sharing the same time and the same spirit. It was a gesture of unity that transformed distance into connection and sport into a universal language.
In line with Olympic protocol, the parade began with the athletes from Greece and concluded with the Italian representatives, respecting the alphabetical order of delegations. A total of 92 delegations and “individual neutral athletes” took part.
Each delegation selected two flag bearers, one woman and one man, in order to achieve gender equality, while the host country, Italy, exceptionally appointed four flag bearers – two in Milan and two in Cortina.
Anja Ilić and Miloš Milosavljević carried the flag of Serbia at the opening ceremony.
