This year, the University of Belgrade was ranked in 18 disciplines on the newly published Shanghai ranking by scientific fields of the world’s best universities for 2025.
Last year it was in 16 disciplines.
“The University of Belgrade achieved a breakthrough on the list in Chemical Engineering, Water Resources Science, and Artificial Intelligence. It dropped off the list in Computer Science and Engineering,” says Zoran Nikolić, professor at the Faculty of Physics in Belgrade, for Danas.
UB achieved its best position in Metallurgical Engineering, where it is ranked between 76th and 100th place, followed by Food Science and Technology and Veterinary Science – from 101st to 150th place, and Mathematics, which is ranked between 151st and 200th place.
The University of Novi Sad is ranked in the field of Food Science and Technology from 201st-300th place and Agricultural Sciences from 401st-500th, and the University of Kragujevac in Public Health from 201st-300th place.
“The University of Zagreb, the University of Ljubljana, and Charles University in Prague are on the lists in 22 disciplines, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is on 15 lists, Lomonosov University, as a highly specialized one, is on 8 lists. The best-ranked university from Hungary – Eötvös Loránd University is on 7 lists, the University of Istanbul on 2 lists. It is interesting that in our traditionally best field, Food Science and Technology, the University of Zagreb is better ranked than the University of Belgrade,” states Professor Nikolić.
