A man has died after being found with a gunshot wound in a car that had struck several parked vehicles in Palatine on Monday evening, local police said.

Authorities responded to the scene around 9:39 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Prairie Brook Drive.

Police found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound in the driver’s seat of the crashed vehicle. The young man was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He was identified as Kevin Kuns (Kevin Koonce) from Streamwood.

Police stated that there is no known immediate threat to the public, but the death is being investigated as a homicide.

North Rand Road was closed for several hours between Route 53 and Dundee Road.
