US senators from the Republican Party have submitted a draft law on the complete withdrawal of the US from the United Nations, according to a document published on the page of one of the authors of the law, Mike Lee, Dnevnik.hr reports.
“The President should completely repeal US membership in the UN, as well as in all other organizations, commissions, special agencies and other bodies that are formally connected with the UN,” the draft states.
The bill implies the abolition of funding for the UN and its agencies, a ban on re-entry into the organization without Senate approval, as well as the country’s refusal to participate in UN peacekeeping missions.

“The UN has become a platform for tyrants through which the United States and its allies are attacked,” Lee told Fox News and called for an end to UN funding, saying they spend money to undermine Washington’s interests and strengthen its opponents.
He also questioned what the UN has achieved over the years, pointing out that despite all the attention and money, it has failed to prevent wars, human rights violations and pandemics.

He also signed an order to completely stop funding UNRWA, withdraw the US from the organization and the UN Human Rights Council, and launch an accelerated investigation into UNESCO activities.
