The chief coordinator of the “Logistics BiH” Consortium, Velibor Peulić, announced that representatives of transporters from all Balkan countries will define a joint final response on Friday regarding the issues they face due to rules on driver stay within the EU.
Peulić said that Albania has also joined the transporters’ demands, emphasizing that the coordinators will define a response exclusively for the Balkan states.
Regarding the increase in oil and fuel prices due to the crisis in the Middle East, Peulić highlighted that rising fuel costs trigger a chain reaction of other price hikes. He explained that the negative effects of the price increase are smaller for transporters who have contracts with companies that include diesel fuel clauses.
“Most of our companies have such contracts with European companies,” Peulić stated in a comment for RTRS.
He also noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only country in Europe without a VAT refund, and transporters had requested 14 months ago that this issue be addressed.
